Doug's Teaching References
Doug Sinning is the third teacher in Orlando with whom I have studied. It took me far too long to leave my other teachers, but it's only now that I'm taking lessons from Doug that I realize it. I constantly tell people that I "love my new music teacher" and that's because he has that rare combination of understanding how music works, both from a theoretical and an emotional perspective, AND being able to express that knowledge in a way that you begin to understand it too. To me, that's exciting, and when I'm excited I enjoy learning.

I am a former student of Doug Sinning's. I studied with Doug for almost four years and can't say enough great things about him. Along with being talented and a great teacher, he was also a great support for me. He helped me put my CD demo together in his digital recording studio, and always encouraged me to work harder and follow my dreams. I'm actually out in Los Angeles now pursuing an acting career where my years working with Doug has not only helped me musically, but also with the confidence to perform in front of people and the persistence to keep working.

I've been taking voice lessons from Doug for about 7 years. I highly recommend him as he is knowledgeable and a skilled instructor. He studied for a triple major from Berklee College of Music in Boston, and I can see where he uses his education in teaching others. I'm 53 and not a starry-eyed kid.  I see things rather vividly, not rose-colored. I hate some of the exercises he has me do but I understand their importance in learning to read music. Through these past few years, I've also developed a lovely friendship with Doug. I trust Doug, and all I can say is, "give him a try. I think you'll be pleased."

I have known Doug for several years and he has been teaching my daughter, Anna, voice & piano for almost a year (has it been that long?)  He is a great teacher and very dedicated.

Doug Sinning's teaching abilities are far more than exceptional.  I am a former piano student who would gladly still be taking lessons from him, if moving away from Orlando had been an option.  Doug is well trained and knows exactly what he is doing when it comes to teaching. He used a well balanced plan of study for my lessons, and was thorough in administering it.  His guidance as a teacher and a friend are wonderful, and I would highly recommend Doug to another student.

Doug Sinning is one of the most talented musicians I know. He is fully capable when using either his vocal talents or his piano skills. He is a great vocal coach, and works well developing and guiding young voices. He also does a good job of inspiring those young voices.
As a musical director, he is always well prepared and is a wonderful person to collaborate with. He also knows how to have fun doing it! I am someone who has conducted orchestras/bands from the piano for many years, so I know the right stuff when I work with it.
Doug Sinning has the 'right stuff'.

My experience with Doug has been a very positive one. His ability to pinpoint the problem areas in my vocal technique  made me a better singer with every session. When I first came to Doug I was very frustrated with my vocals. I was having trouble with intonation which we were able to correct and now I'm singing better than I ever thought possible.  My confidence level has increased in learning more challenging vocal material as well. I would recommend Doug Sinning to anyone who has a sincere interest in becoming a better performer.

My son, Stephen, began taking voice and piano with Doug just after
he turned 5 years of age. He continued w/ Doug until he was 13 (he'd still
be there if it weren't for the fact that being a single parent and getting
in a car accident made it impossible for me to afford). Doug is great and
he has a lot of patience. My son learned a lot from him and I am glad he
was able to take lessons from him.

My daughter Stacy has taken voice and piano lessons with Doug for the past couple of years. I have been extremely happy with her progress. This past year, Stacy received a "Superior" for her solo at District V Thespian Competition. I believe we owe the credit to Doug.
Stacy is very involved in theater, school and she also holds a part-time job. Doug has been very flexible and has accommodated her busy schedule.
This past year Doug put on a 1940s talent show and I was very impressed by the talent and the detail he put into the show.
I highly recommend Doug Sinning for music lessons.
